'Heinz Dilemma' On YouTube Tests Your Ethics (VIDEO) - Huffington Post

Heinz Dilemma

If the first thing you thought when you woke up this morning was, I wonder if I'll be able to test how morally evolved I am today through the unlikely medium of a YouTube video, then wow! Just wow. You really lucked out, crazy ol' you. This morning, Brianpickings turned us onto a fun interactive YouTube quiz that'll do just that. Designed by Carlo Pisani, Andres Jud, and Maria Stalder, the video animates a simplified version of the Heinz Dilemma, a construct made famous by psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg as a way to identify the answerer's stage of moral development.

After sketching out the Dilemma (which you should hold off on Wikipedia-ing before playing, because it's more fun that way), the video prompts you to choose 1 of 3 answers, with 3 subsequent likely judgments (Kohlberg's construct allows for 6): pre-conventional, conventional or post-conventional morality. We scored post, which we're going to say means totally wise and fun and not at all anarchic and pie-in-the-sky and ultimately unsustainable! Nope, cool and nothin' else. As with a good Cosmo quiz, it's sort of obvious here which answers will lead to which proclamations about You. But don't game the system! This is a quiz about ethics, after all.

A note: for the interactivity to work, YouTube annotations must be on (the speech bubble widget should be red). Video/imminent judgment about how good of a person you are starts below.
