Former Google Product Guru Jacquie Phillips Joins Lifecrowd - MarketWatch (press release)
Mar 29th 2012, 13:48

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Social activities discovery site Lifecrowd today welcomed award-winning style, multi-media and product development innovator Jacquie Phillips to its team as Co-Founder and Head of Product. The former Google business product manager will oversee product development and user experience for Lifecrowd's expanding group activities social platform that makes it easy for users to discover, share and participate in group activities happening in their area.

"Jacquie's expertise in developing, designing and launching new concepts is a tremendous asset to our team," said Lifecrowd CEO Bong Koh. "Her dedication as a proven product evangelist and user advocate across a broad range of multi-media, e-commerce and lifestyle platforms will enable us to deliver a superior user experience--both online and off--as we expand the Lifecrowd platform to new markets."

As Head of Product, Phillips will develop and direct Lifecrowd's product strategy and execution and manage the complete product lifecycle across its mobile and web platforms. As the lead advocate for new initiatives, she will manage Lifecrowd's dynamic cross-functional teams, bringing together content, community management, design and account management disciplines to plan, launch and maintain projects that deliver an exceptional user experience.

"For Lifecrowd, the product is as much about what happens offline, in the real world, as it is the website and mobile experience," Phillips said. "My job is to ensure that the Lifecrowd platform effectively and seamlessly merges the two, helping our users to discover entertaining and enriching activities, meet new people and make life a bit more fun."

At Google, Phillips served as product manager for Google Offers and as lead product manager on Boutiques.com, combining product search, personalization and quality content with social features. Prior to this post, she worked as product management director at Like.com, which Google acquired August 2010. There, she designed and developed several dynamic tools for product category, genre and events classification, visual search indexing, and an intelligent curation and rating system for brands and merchants. Her work in dynamic image recognition and enhanced search of remote content earned Phillips a Joint Inventor Patent. Another Joint Inventor Patent is pending for the Stylyzer(TM), a bionic visual quiz she designed and developed to determine a user's style genre.

In addition to her work at Like.com and Google, Phillips also co-founded and worked for eight years as a producer at Private Road Productions. She earned a Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle awards as part of the The Culture Project production team on The Exonerated, a social justice play highlighting the true stories of death row inmates and earned an Edinburgh Fringe Festival award as co-creator of Project 9/11: Portraits of Shock. She is currently associate producer of the new web series "LA'd" with RedTent Entertainment.

A venerated style expert, Phillips has also been a featured fashion and style commentator for Glam.com, MSN Shopping and Stylist, and served as managing editor at SheFinds.com.

"I've been so impressed with the passion of the Lifecrowd team," she said. "I love having this opportunity work in an energizing environment with a team dedicated to making the world a better place through great technology. I'm also excited to be a part of the tremendous tech innovation coming out of Silicon Beach."

Lifecrowd became the first startup to launch out of the Los Angeles-based MuckerLab accelerator/incubator program earlier this monthly, rolling out its platform of curated events, happenings, classes and outings in San Francisco, San Diego, Orange County, Calif.
