Brother of Google exec accused in attack
The younger brother of top Google executive Marissa Mayer is accused of three felonies - assault, false imprisonment and domestic violence - after allegedly beating his girlfriend after a San Francisco social event last fall, authorities said.
Mason Mayer, 33, is accused of shoving girlfriend Kelly Ann Trent, 30, onto his bedroom floor, pulling her hair, spitting on her, pulling off her eyelashes, slamming her head on the ground and punching her as she lay huddled in the fetal position, according to a police affidavit.
Trent sustained a black eye in the Sept. 24 incident, along with bruises and cuts on her arms and hands, the affidavit said. She told police that Mayer didn't stop until a friend knocked on his door and interrupted him.
Trent eventually went to police, and Mayer was arrested Nov. 28. He has pleaded not guilty, and a judge has ordered him to stay away from Trent. Mayer's attorney did not return a call seeking comment.

Murder suspect may have fled to India
Police are looking for a San Jose man they believe fled to India after allegedly shoving a woman out of his SUV and running her over in Sunnyvale.
Witnesses told officers they saw someone shove 28-year-old Jennifer Flores out of an Acura MDX about 11:30 p.m. last Sunday on Socorro Avenue. She was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, where she died.
Investigators identified the driver as Pawanjit Singh, 25, but learned that he had boarded a flight to India on Monday, said Capt. David Verbrugge. The FBI and U.S. marshals are trying to bring him back.
A judge signed a $1 million arrest warrant Wednesday, alleging murder. A search of Singh's residence turned up the SUV, police said.

Fisherman survives getting hit by stray bullet
A fisherman standing on the shore of San Pablo Bay was hit by a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting when the round sped above a quarter mile of railroad tracks and shoreline before grazing the unlucky angler in the back of his head, authorities said.
Around 6:45 p.m. last Sunday, callers told police about a drive-by shooting in Rodeo involving two cars near the intersection of California Street and San Pablo Avenue, said Jimmy Lee, spokesman for the Contra Costa County sheriff.
Deputies found a bullet-riddled car that had crashed into a fence, Lee said. Its two uninjured occupants were in their seats. The shooters, who were in another car, had escaped the scene, Lee said.
"While all this was going on, we got a call that someone had been shot," Lee said.
A 34-year-old fisherman standing on the shore of San Pablo Bay had apparently been hit in the back of the head by a stray bullet from the drive-by gunfire, Lee said. Lee said investigators are considering the shooting an assault with a deadly weapon.
The Richmond man was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and released Monday, Lee said.
"This could have been a lot worse," Lee said, noting the man had only a minor flesh wound. "We're fortunate that it didn't turn out differently."
