Google's rumored cloud service is reportedly on track for a mid-April release, with 5GB of free storage for every user, according to leaked screen shots obtained by TalkAndroid.com.
The blog posted a shot of the landing page for Google Drive, the purported name of Google's upcoming cloud-based storage offering.
"Access files on your computer from anywhere," reads the tagline. "Put files in Google Drive and you can access them on your desktop, mobile phone or tablet, and drive.google.com."
At this point, navigating to drive.google.com throws up a 404 error.
As TalkAndroid, noted, however the most interesting part of the screen shot is the storage - 5GB for free to start, with the option to upgrade. Initial data shared by the blog's source tipped 2GB.
Reports about Google Drive first emerged in early February when the Wall Street Journal said the Google offering would allow on-the-go access to files stored in the cloud and the ability to share that data with friends or co-workers.
At the time, the Journal pointed out that with Drive, Google appears to be going after smaller, successful tech companies with its own services, like Facebook with Google+ and Yelp with the Zagat purchase. This effort has drawn comparisons to Dropbox.
Google has declined to comment on "rumor or speculation."
