TAMPA -- More business could soon be coming to the Sunshine State, thanks to a partnership with Google.
It's called "Florida Get Your Business Online," and it will bring FREE websites to small businesses throughout Florida.
In a packed room at the Tampa Museum of Art, local business owners learned the tools they need to succeed in the online world, as Google representatives went step-by-step, teaching them how to create a company website.
"Ninety-seven percent of people are looking online for products and services, and if you are invisible online, you're going to be invisible to your customers," said one Google rep.
Martin McCauley took advantage of the opportunity in Tampa. He was preparing to launch a marriage and family counseling business, and in a matter of hours, he was able to establish his own website.
"Certainly being online is going to make the difference between whether or not my business succeeds," said McCauley. "We don't know how to actually create a site, and this has just been really helpful to clear up a lot of those things that were a mystery to us before."
The best part about Florida Get Your Business online, Google promises to provide your website's domain name and hosting free for one year.
